FORKS
Located at the junction of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers,
The Forks has been a gathering place since the days of the fur
traders. Today, it is home to shops, restaurants, attractions
and a year-round calendar of events. This park-like site
highlights its past with the "Wall Trhough TIme", a graphic
retelling of historic events at The Forks, and the Oodena
Celebration Circle. Moments from Winnipeg's downtown. The
Forks is truly a must see for visitors of all ages.

EXPLORE MANITOBA CENTRE
Located in the heart of Winnipeg at the Forks(adjacent to the
Johnston Terminal), the Explore Manitoba Centre is a permanent
theme pavilion with over 8,000 square feet of incredible
displays and exhibits that give both visitors and residents
a true sense of the diversity and grandeur of Manitoba.

THE FORKS NATIONAL HISTORIC
SITE OF CANADA
Discover a
green oasis in the heart of Winnipeg. This nine acre (3.6 hectare)
park, which encompasses open green spaces and a tree-lined
river walkway, is a national treasure owned and operated
by Parks Canada. Enlightening interpretive displays, inspiring
sculptures, stone pictographs and ceremonial bronze gambling
sticks embody the Site's rich continuum of historical events
that span over 6,000 years.

THE FORKS TOURS
Known as the "Gateway to the Canadian
West", the Forks National Historic Site of Canada preserves
and commemorates its 6,000
year history through enlightening and entertaining tours. In
the guides interpretive tour, "Beaver Tales and River Trails",
you can explore the site with one of the costumes Parks Canada
guides who will brings The Forks' colorful past to life. Tours
are available in both French and English, are approximaately
one hour long and are wheelchair accessible.

JOHNSTON TERMINAL
This historical building offers three levels of fabulous shopping
and dining. Originally constructed in the 1920s, this beautifully
restored building now boasts Manitoba -owned businesses including
shops, specialty boutiques, restaurants and a large antique
mall. Whether you are meeting for coffee, dining with friends
and family or shopping for that unique gift, the Johnston
Terminal is hte place to be.

THE MARKET PLAZA and FESTIVAL
PARK
The Forks is the place to gather
year-round for a good time. With over 200 events and four
million visitors each year, the entertainment is almost
non-stop and the line-up is always changing. With rock'n'roll,
swing or jazz to big band and blues, you can go dancing
under the canopy, enjoy some tableside tunes or join 20,000
friends and see a live show on the Scotiabank Stage.

OODENA - CELEBRATION CIRCLE
The Celebration Circle is
a special place created near the river junction to
commemorate a time when people lived in concert with
the natural forces around them. THe shallow grass-lined
bowl allows you to stand where Aboriginal people walked
some 3,000 years ago. Limestone monoliths, geometrically
aligned to the True North )Polaris) and the sunrise
and sunset of each equinox and solstice define the
Circle, while special armatures are equipped for naked
eye astronomy.

THE "WALL THROUGH TIME"
What were you doing 3,000 years
ago? The "Wall Through Time" is a graphic telling of historic
events such as great floods, forts and the glories of the
fur trade. Located on the western edge of a major North
American archaeological find, the site protects an Aboriginal
campsite and trade centre, both thousands of years old.

Manitoba Theatre for Yong People presents a full season of professional
theatre for yong people, age 3 to teen, and their families. One of
the most respected theatre companies in Canada - for children or adults
- MTYP presents 10 plays each season in their state-of-the-art, fully reconfigurable
theatre. Each year, MTYP welcomes guest companies from around the
world, as well as creating and presenting plays by th company's own artistic
team.

CHILDREN'S MUSEUM

The Manitoba Children's Museum provides
an environment which nurtures the power of the imagination
and the spirit of exploration. As the only Children' Museum
in Western Canada, it is a unique attraction housed in
a historic diesel locomotive repair shop (originally built
in 1889). The museum features six permanent hands-on galleries
with various special events and exhibits happening throughout
the year.

Visit the Countess of Dufferin, the first steam locomotive to arrive
in Winnipeg in 1877. From railway construction to the beginning of the
diesel era, visitors will get a chance to see Winnipeg's rich and diverse
