Proclaimers
The Pyramid Cabaret
Sunday, May 4, 8:00pm
When the Scottish duo of Craig and Charlie Reid emerged in 1987, they were immediately compared to the Everly Brothers. Considering their energetic, melodic folk-rock, the comparison made some sense, even though the Proclaimers didn't really sound like the Everlys. Instead, the band was a post-punk pop band, aggressively displaying their thick accents on sweet, infectiously melodic songs about love, politics, and life in Scotland.

The bands appearing at the festival were chosen by Mustaine because he wanted to "put together a festival that consisted of positive bands that play heavy music in a high energy environment." Among the stated goals of the tour are to cater to fans of many different styles of metal, as well as to introduce fans to less familiar acts. This is accomplished through the second stage, which hosts less-well-known metal bands.

Melanie C
The Garrick Centre
Sunday, May 11, 7:00pm
You didn't have to be an avid Spice-watcher to know that, with 'Northern Star', Melanie fared far better commercially and critically than did her former colleagues with their own first individual projects.'It's me on a plate, pretty much'. This is how Melanie Chisholm describes the content of 'Reason', her second solo project, and follow-up to 1999's much loved and multi-platinum debut, 'Northern Star'. George Thorogood & The Destroyers
MTS Center
Friday, May 23
A blues-rock guitarist who draws his inspiration from Elmore James, Hound Dog Taylor, and Chuck Berry, George Thorogood never earned much respect from blues purists, but he became a popular favorite in the early '80s through repeated exposure on FM radio and the arena rock circuit. Thorogood's music was always loud, simple, and direct -- his riffs and licks were taken straight out of '50s Chicago blues and rock & roll -- but his formulaic approach helped him gain a rather large audience in the '80s, when his albums regularly went gold.
