The CCFM, with the Centre du patrimoine (Heritage Centre) includes
a restaurant-bar-terrace, an art gallery, a gift boutique, a theatre
with seating for 307 people, a multi-purpose hall with a 560-seat
capacity, as well as several meeting rooms, classrooms, office
space and ample free parking. Technical, catering, and box-office
services are also provided.

The Manitoba Museum is the province's largest attraction, hosting
more than 300,000 visitors annually. You can explore a vivid
portrayal of Manitoba's rich and colorful history through nine
galleries that total approximately 68,000 square feet (the size
of 4 football fields) of exciting exploration. All regions
of Manitoba are represented in the galleries, including the Grasslands,
the Boreal Forest and the Arctic/Sub-Arctic. Discover the
Museum's recent additions: the Hudson Bay Company Collections
Gallery, which is the Parklands/Mixed Woods Gallery, which is
the largest and most interactive of the galleries. The Manitoba
Museum is noted for its dramatic walk-through settings, including
the 17th century full-size replica ship "The Nonsuch"
whose voyage in 1668 led to the formation of the Hudson's Bay
Company, and the Urban Gallery, which recreated boomtown Winnipeg
in the 1920s.

Winnipeg is home to one of only five major Planetariums in the
country. It features live interactive multimedia shows that
re-create the current night sky, highlight the latest space discoveries
and follow the developments of the space program. From adventure-inspired
animated children's shows to feature shows that will satisfy the
astronomy enthusiast, the Planetarium introduces the wonders of
the universe to sky watchers of all ages.
The Planetarium also runs a special show on Saturday nights called
"The Planetarium at Night", an edgy show mixing live
local music talent with our own unique "dome" lightshow
- all under the umbrella of the week's relevant science issues.

VIRTUOSI CONCERTS

Virtuosi Concerts Inc. (VCI) is Winnipeg's premier recital and
chamber music series. Based out of Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall
at The University of Winnipeg, Virtuosi Concerts takes pride in
being able to provide concerts of excellence to the entire Winnipeg
community. Virtuosi Concerts presents 12 concerts as well as a
spring festival each year. Of the 12 "regular" season
concerts, 3 are "Concerts with Commentary: The Artists of
Prairie Debut", 2 are Virtuosi Internationale – featuring
international artists, and the 12th is called...and now for something
completely different - a unique and special concept - concert. |

Discover the heart of Winnipeg's Chinese community, featuring
replicas of Confucius and Qin Dynasty trracotta warrior with
horse. THe Dynasty Building is an excellent example of architecture
in the Chinese tradition. ITs multi-roof design is a symbol
of good luck, and its beautiful Chinese Gardens form a transquil
retreat in the heart of the city. Be sure to visit the Centre's
interior where you'll see a replica of the famous Nine Imperial
Dragon Mural, a statue of Guan Yin and a Bronze Budda.

Founded in 1964, Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers has made an
outstanding contribution to the evolution of contemporary dance

The Winnipeg Jazz Orchestra, founded by Winnipeg's premiere jazz
musicians and loved by local jazz mavens, presents their ninth
season of great big band concerts at the Winnipeg
Art Gallery. The WJO showcases superb local artists,
bothe up-and-coming and the polished pros - and features appearances
by exciting national and international guest artists. Concerts
cover the range of jazz standards and old favourites to new compositions.

Philharmonic Choir

The Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir (the "Phil"), the oldest
choir of its kind in western Canada, has been entertaining Winnipeg
audiences with beautiful music since 1922. The Phil's repertoire
includes a range of secular and religious music including oratorios,
masses, cantatas, songs, and choral symphonies. The Phil self-produces
a season of three primary concerts, supplemented by various private,
public, and benefit performances. Often joining forces with other
groups such as the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra and the Winnipeg
Singers. |
